Texas Ties to the Olympics

The Lone Star State is known for its friendly folks, and being from here, there is something more than just respect of our state. It’s a pride thing one could say. So it only sounds right to support the Texans competing in the 2012 Olympics. Of course, we all love rooting for any American wearing the red, white, and blue, but it always means just a little more to Texans when an Olympian they’re rooting for has ties to the Lone Star State. Born in Texas, now living in Texas, or just going to school here… you’re a Texan and we tip our hat to you!

Let’s start close in our own hometown with a product of the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch just up Highway 46. Twenty-year old Ryan Harrison is currently ranked #52 in the world and is continuing to work his way up. Mr. Ryan Harrison keep fighting and making us New Braunfels natives proud!

Competing with their brother Mark, Diana and Steven Lopez became the first set of three siblings to compete on the same Olympic team in the same sport since 1904. Both winning bronze metals previously in Taekwondo, the Houston natives are back and looking for Gold.

Lastly, stretched out all across the Lone Star State,  Between Longhorns, Aggies  & all in between, Texas born or the ones that got here as soon as they could, 56 friendly Texan folk’s stand up and join Team USA. Rivals here and teammates there, on ground, underwater or through the air we all make a team. This makes us stand up and smile just a little bit bigger.
